Pianist extraordinaire Howard Shelley and the London Mozart Players bring Chopin’s glittering Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor to Upper Norwood in a special concert dedicated to giving the whole local community access to the best in classical music.
An internationally celebrated pianist, Howard Shelley gave his first televised Chopin recital at the age of ten. Howard will give an illuminating introduction to this masterpiece, before embarking on a full performance accompanied by London Mozart Players. Although Chopin wrote this concerto at a young age, the work shows great musical maturity. Whilst it is probably best known for its lyrical middle movement, the entire piece is a treasure trove of hauntingly beautiful melodies that explores the full expressive range of the piano.
As part of LMP’s mission to bring world-class classical music to Upper Norwood, this concert is sponsored so that young music students, the disadvantaged and those who could not normally afford to go to concerts get a chance to come along for free. We are also releasing 100 exclusive tickets at £25 that can be purchased via Eventbrite on a first-come, first-served basis. These tickets are an important contribution towards the cost of the concert and enable us to share classical music with the whole local community. When you purchase a ticket via Eventbrite, you’ll be given the option to donate an extra £5 to enable someone less fortunate to come along to this concert.
There are only 100 general admission tickets at £25 available. Ticket price includes an invitation to a private post-concert champagne reception with Howard Shelley and the orchestra, plus reserved seating and a free programme.
