On Sunday 1st September we officially welcomed Danny Simpson, a member of the congregation at St John’s, in his new role as a Southwark Pastoral Auxiliary (SPA). SPAs are lay men and women authorised by the Diocese to help develop caring and pastoral work on behalf of the church, in a voluntary capacity. They are […]
On Sunday 1st September we make our monthly collection for our local food bank. Last month we had a very successful Period Poverty campaign, but we still need to collect food and sanitary products. It’s time to bust some food bank myths. Here are some common myths surrounding food banks that you might have […]
On 2nd August, 22 women attended our Pampering Day for those who usually take care of others. Those who attended were offered head and shoulder massage, full Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, back massage, and Sukyo Mahikari practice. Some of the women spent most of the day at St John’s drinking tea, feeding their babies, […]
Last Sunday we collected 278 packs of female hygiene products! Many thanks for your generosity – this is going to make a huge difference. We’ll keep collecting female hygiene products for the food bank in addition to food, because this is an ongoing issue. The collection takes place on the first Sunday of each month.
On the first Sunday of every month, we collect for the Norwood and Brixton Food Bank, and on Sunday 7th July we’re going to focus on women’s sanitary products, to draw attention to the problem of period poverty. Thousands of women are forced to choose between spending money on food and spending it on sanitary products. […]

On Wednesday 19th June at about 2pm there will be a participatory performance, as some members of the Hive, led by […]

On Saturday we held a tabletop sale – young and old were buying and selling plants, toys, books, and bric-a-brac. Watch this space for the next one… On Sunday morning, as we celebrated Pentecost, our Junior Choir […]
On the first Sunday of every month we collect for the Norwood and Brixton Foodbank, and this month we had a bumper collection! Our foodbanks do vital work for the most vulnerable, and we’re very happy to support them. Please be just as generous next month!
As part of the Asset-Based Community Development programme hosted by St John’s, we are happy to support an Ideas Fair at Upper Norwood Methodist Church on Saturday 4th May. For more about our ABCD programme, visit this page.
St John’s is beginning a Junior Choir, which will rehearse once a week and, to begin with, will sing with the adult choir in church once a month. St John’s Choir used to include children, and we’d like to bring them back! We’re setting up a Junior Choir for children aged 7 to 11 years […]
