Frequently Asked Questions
What happens at the Halloween Party?
There will be lots of Harry Potter and Halloween themed games, crafts, and activities, as well as a a Halloween feast around the bonfire in the Meadow.
Who is invited to the Halloween Party?
This Halloween Party is for children aged 7 – 13 who live in our local community. It’s a free and safe alternative to trick-or-treating.
Do I need to book?
Yes please! We can only accommodate 60 children so please book their ticket in advance. You can book a ticket here.
How much does it cost?
The party is completely free, although you are always welcome to make a donation if you wish.
Can my child dress up?
Definitely! We particularly encourage children to dress as their favourite character from Harry Potter. Your child doesn’t have to dress up if they’d rather not, and if finding a costume is tricky for you, please be in touch – we are always happy to help 🙂
Are my younger children welcome?
This party is really just for children aged 7 – 13, but grown-ups and younger/older children are welcome to join us round the bonfire in the Meadow from 6:30pm where they’ll be toffee apples and marshmallows for toasting 🙂
Where will the Halloween Party take place?
The Halloween Party will be in the Church and in the Meadow, so please ensure your child brings a warm hat and coat!
Do I need to stay with my child at the Halloween Party?
No, you don’t, but if you’re dropping off, please make sure you have filled in pick-up arrangements and an emergency contact when you book their ticket. Of course, you are welcome to stay with your child if you prefer and/or help out if you’d like 🙂
Is it “OK” for the Halloween Party to take place in Church?
Yes! Halloween – All Hallows’ Eve – is a Christian festival that’s been celebrated from the Middle Ages. It’s the evening before All Saints’ Day and it’s a time when we remember people we loved who have died, saints, and martyrs. This will just be a fun party for local children as a free and safe alternative to trick-or-treating. There will be no “religious” element and children of all faiths or none are welcome 🙂
My child has additional needs or allergies. Are they welcome?
At St John’s, all children are welcome and have a valued place in our community. Please email Mthr Rachael directly to talk about how we can best welcome your child to the party: [email protected]
