⏰ Commitment: 1 day per week (Wednesdays)

Role Purpose
St John’s, Upper Norwood, is looking for a Volunteers Co-ordinator to join our parish team. This voluntary role will support the parish in strengthening and developing its volunteer base. This includes recruiting, welcoming, supporting, and retaining volunteers across church and community activities, ensuring they feel valued, equipped, and confident in their roles.
This is a voluntary role, ideally suited to someone with experience in volunteer management, HR, community engagement, or church/community organising.
Key Responsibilities
Work with the Parish Administrator to identify volunteer needs across church life and community activities
Recruit new volunteers through outreach, events, and partnerships
Provide a warm and welcoming induction for new volunteers
Support and encourage volunteers, ensuring good matches between roles and skills
Keep volunteer records up to date, ensuring compliance with safeguarding and policies
Organise training and development opportunities
Promote volunteer opportunities via website, social media, and local networks
Celebrate and thank volunteers, building a culture of recognition
Skills & Experience
We’re looking for someone who has:
Experience in volunteer management, HR, or community organising
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise
A welcoming, approachable manner with sensitivity to diversity
Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality (training can be provided)
Confidence using email, spreadsheets, and online platforms
