Our Upcoming Events

Church is not just about Sunday, we have events all through the week:

  • Compassion Through Loss

    Compassion Through Loss

    Monday 3 August | 2:30-4:30 PM

Have you experienced the loss of someone close to your heart? Grief can feel heavy, but you don’t have to carry it alone. Compassion Through Loss is a peer-led support group offering a safe, gentle space to share, listen, and reflect together, at St John’s Community Hall, Sylvan Road, SE19 2RX.

You are welcome, just as you are.

  • The Transfiguration of our Lord

    The Transfiguration of our Lord

    Thursday 6 August | 7:30 PM

The Transfiguration is one of the miracles of Jesus reported in the Gospels and is unique in that it happens to Christ himself. Join us for a Mass on Thursday, 6 August, at 7:30 PM to be reminded why it is such a pivotal moment in our relationship with God.

  • The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

    The Assumption

    Saturday 15 August | 10 AM

Join us for a solemn yet joyful High Mass as we honour Mary, the Mother of God.

Though the Assumption is not described in the New Testament, the theme of Mary’s death and her being taken into Heaven has been a powerful subject in Christian art and devotion since the Middle Ages. The significance of the Assumption, that Mary was taken up body and soul, lies in the belief that her whole being is glorified, offering a glimpse of the promise of eternal life for all humanity.

We hope you will be able to join us.

  • Sunday Parish Lunch St John's Upper Norwood

    Sunday Parish Lunch

Sunday 6 September | After Mass

Join us on Sunday 6 September after Mass for our Sunday Parish lunch. A time to connect with fellow parishioners. Everyone is warmly welcome!

London to Brighton Bike Ride 🚴‍♀️

    Spring 2027

We're considering organising a bike ride from St John's to Brighton in Spring 2027, in support of St John's and TLG – the charity that runs alongside our Messy Meals programme.

Don't worry if you're not up for the full distance – there will be options to join for just part of the route, and we'd love to see younger members of our community get involved too! We'll be keeping the route nice and flat, so no need to be a pro!
