Organ Concert: Katelyn Emerson

Katelyn Emerson Organ Concert at St John's Upper Norwood

Biography:

A ‘star of the first rank’ (Orgue Canada) praised for her ‘musical brilliance’ and ‘versatility’ (Cleveland Classical), Katelyn Emerson maintains a busy international concertizing and teaching schedule across the United States, Europe, and Asia, showcasing repertoire spanning the 14th—21st centuries alongside masterclasses and lectures on topics ranging from organ interpretation, injury prevention for musicians, and healthy practice techniques to performance studies and empirical music analysis.

Katelyn is a laureate of international organ competitions on three continents, including the American Guild of Organists’ (AGO) National Young Artists Competition in Organ Performance, Musashino International Organ Competition (Japan), International Organ Competition “Pierre de Manchicourt” (France), and Mikael Tariverdiev International Organ Competition (Russia). Alongside her performances, she volunteers with charitable organisations such as Scotland's Sowne of Organe to help increase public awareness of the cultural and technological significance of historic and newly built instruments.

Katelyn holds degrees from the Musikhochschule Stuttgart (MA Orgel), supported by a German Academic Exchange Scholarship (DAAD), Oberlin College and Conservatory (BMus Organ/BA French), and Colorado State University (Certificate in Occupational Ergonomics). She studied en perfectionnement at the Conservatoire de Toulouse (France) through a Fulbright Grant. Katelyn’s two CD recordings appear on the Pro Organo label.
